What Makes Us (really) Different

Genuine Ownership

Whenever you publish a recipe on Instagram, TikTok, or Substack, those platforms technically own your work. This is because your recipes live in their databases which they control. On Roux, you own your recipes. We use decentralized technology (we'd love to tell you about it if you're interested!) that ensures you are the one and only owner of any recipe you create. Period.

Creative Freedom

Algorithms, brands, and publishers influence what type of work you produce. Substack frees you from those constraints but recipes are a fundamentally different medium than newsletters. We believe that simply being a great recipe developer, not necessarily a writer, means you should be able to monetize your work.

At Roux, we've designed digital-native structures for menus, zines, and recipe collections so that you have complete creative freedom to build your body of work. In other words you can create...

  • Work with friends to design a collaborative dinner party menu
  • Create a monthly recipe drop that only your most loyal followers can access
  • Surprise your community with a collection of recipes outside of your niche (bakers eat dinner too)

When you genuinely own your work and are fairly compensated when others use their recipes, the entire culinary community can engage in new digitally native and kitchen native ways. The possibilities are endless.

Real Community

You don't make "content", you make recipes. Your goal is to get your community into the kitchen, but today, that relationship ends in your DMs. By creating forks (recipe edits) and stacks (recipe playlists), your community can share all the details of how they're cooking your recipes so that you can learn so much more about them. You know that feeling when someone shares a photo of your recipe after they've cooked it? Imagine that, 10x a day. This will also help you understand who your loyalists are, your ride or dies, so you can acknowledge and reward them to show your appreciation and strengthen your connection.

We've been floored by the reaction from the culinary creator community so far. Drop your email, socials, and tell us a little about yourself here so we can start cooking together.
