These blended iced morning meal solutions have been a staple in my life for over 15 years and are a unanimous breakfast choice at home. They're packed with everything needed to start the day right.

You Need

  • Berry Smoothie

    • 250ml almond milk (or milk of choice)
    • 1/2 frozen banana
    • 1 good handful frozen blueberries
    • 1 tbsp chia seeds
    • 1 tbsp ground linseeds
    • 1/2 tbsp almond butter (or tahini or nut butter of choice)
    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
    • a couple of ice cubes
    • any other powders you choose (e.g., baobab)
  • Green Smoothie

    • 250ml almond milk (or oat milk or coconut water)
    • 1/2 frozen avocado or banana
    • 2/3 chunks frozen pineapple
    • juice of half a lemon
    • 2 handfuls baby spinach
    • 1 tsp supergreen powder (e.g., spirulina)
    • 1 tbsp tahini
    • small pinch of salt
    • a couple of ice cubes
  • Banana Cacao Smoothie

    • 250ml almond milk (or milk of choice)
    • 1/2 frozen banana
    • 1 tsp cacao nibs
    • 1 shot espresso or cold brew (optional)
    • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 tbsp tahini or almond butter or peanut butter
    • 1 medjool date
    • a couple of ice cubes
  • How To

    1. Combine all your ingredients of choice in a blender, starting with the liquid. Blend until smooth.
    2. I like to drink mine out of a jar…
    3. Note: If you are using chia seeds, it can be quite nice to let them sit in the milk for 5 minutes or so to start to work their magic. This will make the smoothie a little thicker, so you might need to add a little water during blending. See how you go.
